A snowy forecast and a declared snow emergency are different things. Check the city’s current status before parking.
Seasonal rules can apply without a snow emergency
From December 1 to March 1, overnight parking is prohibited on city-designated through highways and bus routes. These restrictions may not be posted, so use the city’s unposted-regulations lookup or the red streets on the map.
Other exception streets also change for winter. Blue streets require alternate-side parking from 2–6 a.m.; red streets prohibit overnight parking. Green streets generally allow both sides for up to 48 hours unless the block is also red or a snow emergency is in effect. Posted signs always take precedence.

Alternate-side rules run 10 p.m.–6 a.m. Match the odd or even side to the calendar date before midnight. Through highways and bus routes shown in red on the city map prohibit parking during that period. Follow signs and the city’s block-specific instructions.
Snow emergency tickets go up with each one in a season: $50, then $100, then $150. From the third ticket on, the car can also be towed.
