Medication drop box

Use a medication drop box

Use a medication drop box or mail-back envelope for unwanted medicine.

Find a medication drop box

What to do

  1. For a drop box, pour pills into a clear plastic bag. For a mail-back envelope, empty the bottles into the envelope. Pills in blister packs can stay in the pack.
  2. Use a 24-hour drop box at Milwaukee Police Districts 2 through 7, the Municipal Court drop box (951 N. James Lovell St., weekdays 8 a.m.–4:45 p.m.), or a free mail-back envelope from a listed pharmacy.
  3. Recycle the empty pill bottles in the blue cart.
  4. Over-the-counter medicine can also go in the green garbage cart, but never flush any medicine.

Keep in mind

Never flush medicine. Needles and sharps require a different collection site.
